PITTSBURGH — A man, who spent several days in jail for a crime he did not commit, has a carwash’s security system to thank for proving his innocence, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review said.
The March 21 story said Timothy Joyce, 23, was accused of buying marijuana at a carwash here. An officer said they saw him buy the marijuana and then arrested him on a drug charge.
However, Joyce said he was cleaning out his car and made no such purchase.
Video from the carwash’s surveillance system shows Joyce had no interaction with the drug dealer.
Joyce is now suing the city and two police officers who arrested him in a civil rights lawsuit.
