MESQUITE, TX — A Dallas County sheriff’s deputy was fired for using police carwash discounts for personal vehicles and the cars of relatives here, The Dallas Morning News reported.
The March 21 story stated that Karraz Dansby was fired for conduct unbecoming an officer following an internal affairs hearing. Further, a criminal investigation has been opened against Dansby, and recommended charges of theft by a public servant were forwarded.
Dansby is accused of receiving multiple discounted carwashes at Royal Car Wash where he signed in using a log book for police vehicles. The book tracked vehicles washed under the city’s contract with the wash.
The investigation began after carwash management called Mesquite police to report Dansby’s activities.
