ILKLEY, UNITED KINGDOM — The Environment Agency here confirmed that a carwash owner has stopped the business’ water and chemicals from running onto land owned by a group of fishermen, Telegraph & Argus reported.
The March 1 article stated that the changes at the wash were made after complaints from the Ilkley Angling Club and an inspection completed by the agency soon after.
As PC&D reported, members of the angling club first called the Bradford Council and the Environment Agency after a number of valuable fish died in their pond.
A spokesman for the agency said in the story: “Our officers visited the carwash and were satisfied the tanks had been sealed off and measures have been put in place to collect waste water.”
The efforts made by site owner Michael Booth were enough to satisfy the agency’s conditions, and no action will be taken against the owner.
