FAIRFIELD, CA — An armed man made off with an undisclosed amount of cash after entering a 7 Flags Car Wash here and showing an employee a gun, reported.

The Jan. 28 story stated that an employee at the wash recognized the robbery suspect as a former employee, and the police began the search for 33-year-old Don Diaz.

Diaz had fled the scene in a red Dodge Caravan, the story noted. Police stopped a vehicle in the area that fit the description, but it was not the van the police were looking for.

Law enforcement surrounded Diaz’s home, but he was not there. Police talked with Diaz’s mother and sister and found out that the Caravan belonged to the mother. According to the story, the van was later found abandoned at a shopping center.

Finally, 24 hours later, police located Diaz in a motel room in a neighboring city. He was arrested and booked, and his bail was set for $100,000, the story stated.
