CAIRNS, QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA — A new Thrifty carwash has opened here at the Cairns Airport, and it will serve as a prototype for other washes to open across the continent, The Cairns Post reported.

The Jan. 25 story said three other washes will open up over the next few months. Thrifty Australia’s Director of Operations Kayleen Collins said in the story, “Tropical North Queensland is very important to us. We’ve invested $800,000 (AUS) which means we are here for the long term. …The business is growing here and we want it to continue.”

The eco-friendly automatic carwash also recycles its water and uses biodegradable chemicals.

“We can put hundreds of cars through in a day during the peak season,” Collins said in the story.

Thrifty is known throughout Australia as a car rental company.
