DE PERE, WI — Cleaning Systems Inc. (CSI), which set a goal to cut the amount of waste sent to landfills by 50 percent by the end of 2011, announced it has surpassed that goal and cut down waste by 90 percent instead, a press release reported.

“The ease by which we achieved these surprising results is amazing,” said Plant Manager Roger McGrath. The company did it by partnering with a local recycling company that turned some of the company’s waste into fuel pellets which can be used in place of coal.

“Our employees responded positively to the plan and are committed to the zero waste goal,” McGrath said in the press release. The company also recycles cardboard, aluminum, steel, plastics and glass.
