ST. JOSEPH, MO — The mild winter has driven down business for carwashes here, the St. Joseph News-Press reported.

The Jan. 16 story stated that the two East Ridge Car Wash locations have seen their business dip about 1,000 vehicles a day due to the lack of heavy snow and salt on the roads.

A good month for East Ridge Car Wash is about 10,000 cars. But, in the winter, the wash can easily run about 12,000 to 13,000 cars because of the snow, the story noted.

But the news is not all bad. “We’re still smiling because we have more days that we wash a lower number of cars,” Larry Edwards, the president of The Stewart Corp., said in the story. “In a typical winter, we don’t get too many times where we work all seven days.”
