BEAVERTON, OR — Applied Colors asked detailers how they learned their trade, and over 60 responded, according to a press release.

The Jan. 10 release stated that there were 66 respondents to the poll, and almost all of them were currently working as detailers. Others were former detailers while some were still in the process of learning the business.

Most detailers that responded said they learned automotive reconditioning as a trade through independent research and experimentation, the release noted.

Respondents were given four options in the poll: I learned detailing through a school, I learned detailing on my own time, I learned detailing by working at a detail shop and I learned detailing through working at a car dealership.
