This special edition e-newsletter from Professional Carwashing & Detailing is addressing a troubling issue affecting the car care industry: Incidents of sudden unintended acceleration (SUA) at carwashes. These cases have been reported across the nation, and in the past five years at least three deaths have been reported at carwash locations. It is a major concern for our operators, employees and the carwash industry as a whole.
Recently, a fatality occurred in Rockville, MD, after a Jeep vehicle suddenly accelerated out of the tunnel, striking two employees. This special eNewsletter includes information about that incident, as well as a statement from the International Carwash Association™ and an interactive map which shows where SUA incidents have occurred at carwashes across North America.
We have also turned to experts and carwash industry veterans in the field to find out what they have learned about how this problem is being combated and examined by car manufacturers. Their pieces are of their own volition, and are not necessarily the opinions of PC&D. A survey shares with you how other owners and operators are analyzing and handling possible SUA incidents.
As always, we hope that this special e-Newsletter report will help improve operations at your carwash business and we look forward to your thoughts and comments.
