Manor Township, PA
A new Sheetz, complete with its own carwash facility, opened here on August 12.

The grand opening included free food, smoothies and coffee samples and customers were encouraged to donate to a collection for the Special Olympics PA.

In addition to the convenience store and carwash, the new site includes gasoline pumps and an outdoor dining area.

Sheetz Public Relations Manager Monica Jones said, “The structure is all there, and they are probably finishing up things at the gas pumps and setting shelving inside. There’s always a final inspection to make sure that we’re up to code and everything is standard. Then, they will get the green light, and the truck will come in with product a couple days before and start loading the shelves and stocking the coolers.

Vancouver, Canada
MobiGlow, an eco-friendly carwash, has opened here.

Co-owners Chad Bellamy, Hugo Steele and Rorelee Tio all wanted to come up with a business that wouldn’t hurt the environment after learning that the city’s carwashes use up to 6,481,000 liters of water per year.

Bellamy said, “Our system uses only 2-5 liters of water to steam clean your car.”

“Vancouverites are very savvy when it comes to making sustainable or green decisions, so the Vancouver market was an obvious choice for us to launch our first location,” Tio said.

Bismarck, ND
Jay Braun, who already owns a carwash and quick lube, teamed up with his dad to open Race Day Detail and Auto Reconditioning on Aug. 30.

According to Jay, the father/son duo plan to offer many services, including carpet restoration.

We’re going to do everything from automotive detailing all the way to refurbishing; meaning we can fix leather, vinyl, window chip repair, headlines, door panels, dashes,” he explained.

Grant, NE
Residents hoping to wash their car or clothes should keep their eyes open for The Soap Box, a car and truck wash and Laundromat, which will set-up shop sometime this month.

The business, owned by Troy Friesen and Denton Mastre, will be next door to a greenhouse, also owned by Mastre.

The carwash will have one self-serve bay and an outdoor selfserve station for trucks and tractors.

The Laundromat will have two washers and two dryers, but more might be added in the future.

Brandywind Hundred, DE
A new carwash and gas station will go up here in place of an abandoned Sunoco.

Owner John Recchiuit said there is an “unmet” demand for high-end carwashes in the area.

The diesel fuel and diesel fuel tank will have to be removed and four new gas pumps will go up at the gas station.

Neighbors were receptive to the idea of the wash, although questions were raised about noise and lighting issues. However, Recchuiuti said the carwash motors are quiet and buffers will be installed and said light will not escape from the property.

The express carwash will also be eco-friendly and will reuse 80 percent of its water. Fourteen self-serve vacuums will also be available.

Evansville, IN
The Lucas Oil Center 001, a car and truck total care facility which will offer all types of vehicle care products, full-serve carwashes, motorcycle detailing, oil changes and minor maintenance repairs, may open as soon as December, after the initial facility goes up in Evansville, plans are to open more across the state of Indiana.

Bill Floyd, one of Lucas Oil Center LLC principals, said in the press release, “Our goal is to build a facility that will appeal to everyone from the average motorist to a dedicated high performance enthusiast.”

The facility, which will have a NASCAR theme, has received full support and licensing rights from Forrest and Charlotte Lucas, the husband and wife team of Lucas Oil Products. The Lucases are also well knows in the NASCAR circuit.
