After nearly 16 years of running Caligua XXI, a strip club in a run-down section of the city, Nick Rizos is ready to try his hand at operating a self-serve carwash.
Rizos was devastated when Caligua XXI burned to the ground in 1999. “It broke his heart,” his wife, Dawn, said.
Rizos spent $5.2 million on the project, which transformed the former strip club into 16 carwash bays and a 17,000-square-foot laundry facility.
Misawa Air Base, Japan
The Army and Air Force Exchange Service is funding a new carwash at Misawa Air Base after going without one on base for the last few years.
Construction of the automatic carwash and adjoining self-serve bay is expected to be finished by fall.
The wash will include two industrial vacuums, as well as air and water outlets for self-serve maintenance on vehicles.
