Colonial Label is gambling on a new product for the carwash industry and PC&D has the first details from Cal Yudin, the company’s president.

The new product is similar to the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, a household-cleaning product that has been a successful seller nationwide. Yudin said Colonial Label can’t wait to see how the carwash industry responds.

Professional Carwashing & Detailing: Can you tell me about Colonial Label?

Cal Yudin: Well, we’ve been here for 31 years. We produce a fairly wide line of automotive products as well as household products that are sold in places such as Wal-Mart and Home Depot.

PC&D: What is the new product Colonial Label is releasing?

CY: The product is similar to Magic Eraser, our product has been renamed — Magic Wand.

This product was originally used for insulation. It is not a sponge, although it looks like one.

It’s a very dense and soft material that actually lays down in the grooves and cavities of the surface a person wants to clean. It just simply pulls the dirt out.

You wet it, squeeze out the excess water, and wipe it over the surface of the car’s interior, whether it is leather or vinyl.

The best thing is, there are no chemicals in the product whatsoever. Everyone at our company was surprised and shocked at the cleaning capabilities of this item.

PC&D: Is this product re-usable, does it ever wear out?

CY: When it gets dirty you either have to toss it or rip off an edge. You can use the white areas to clean. But it tends to get dirty. The length of use really depends on how dirty the surface is that you’re cleaning.

PC&D: What does the Magic Wand cost?

CY: A single pack with one Magic Wand will probably cost somewhere between $1.00 and $1.50. We’re selling it through our distributors.
