One of the most important and often overlooked steps in maintaining a healthy carpet extractor is descaling.

Every machine, regardless of manufacturer, requires descaling as part of a routine maintenance program. Water contains minerals that will cling to the inside of a heat exchanger or pump, eventually choking and limiting the flow of water.

Nozzle wear is an important issue that needs to be consistently monitored. Brass, steel and stainless steel nozzles are candidates for corrosion. Plastic nozzles (polypropylene, PVDF, PVC, etc.) that carry abrasive materials will wear, but their usefulness can be extended with the proper care.
