Professional Carwashing & Detailing spoke with Mark Thorsby to find out what some of the main attractions at this year’s Car Care World Expo will be.

Professional Carwashing & Detailing: Are you looking forward to the upcoming expo?

Mark Thorsby: Absolutely, because there’s a lot of stuff going on in our industry right now.

I think there are some interesting business opportunities that are out there, and I think we’re going to see some activity within our industry in terms of new relationships between existing companies.

Also, I think the fact that the show is going to be in San Antonio provides an opportunity for us to reach and see people at the convention that would not normally journey to Las Vegas.

PC&D: What activities and events can visitors expect from this year’s expo?

MT: We’ve got a pretty good line up of activities, both educational and social. Wednesday night, April 6, is the kick-off event, which is an evening with the band America.

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday we have a pretty strong array of about 60 educational workshops in total.

We top both Friday and Saturday morning with two keynote speakers. James Gilmore, who is one of the leading thinkers and co-author of The Experience Economy, will be speaking on Friday morning.

Then we have Dr. Oren Harari, one of the top speakers on the business circuit today, author of the book Leapfrogging the Competition, who addressed our convention in 2000, speaking on Saturday.

PC&D: What kind of turnout are you hoping for?

MT: Our goal is to attract 9,200 people.
