According to the International Carwash Association, carwashing is a $24 billion industry. How does this stack up against other industries? Well, it puts carwash operators in league with Native American gaming casinos, which are a $23 billion industry, according to an Associated Press story recently published in The Seattle Times. Fitness lags behind and clocks in at $14.8 billion industry, says Golds Gym.

Perhaps fitness is down because people are indoors playing video games? According to the Entertainment Software Association, the computer and video games industry totaled $18.85 billion.

And whether or not you’re an Eli Manning fan or a Tom Brady fan, or both, or neither, it looks as if there were a lot of Super Bowl fans, because according to the Retail Advertising and Marketing Association, this year’s Super Bowl spending, including the purchasing of Super Bowl-related items such as televisions and furniture, equaled $9.5 billion.

And finally, it looks as though the pet wash/carwash folks really do know what they’re doing. The pet products industry is worth $40 billion, according to the American Pet Products Manufacturers.

On the road again
Do you think this truck will get a complimentary wash after he’s done with his delivery? The picture, courtesy of Eric Wilson of cwguy.com, was taken in early January in Birmingham, AL. As you can see, an automatic bay is going down Highway I59.
