Procter & Gamble’s first carwash site opens in Ohio
The first Mr. Clean Performance Car Wash, a $3 million full-service carwash test site for Procter & Gamble, has opened in Deerfield Township, OH.

An official grand opening for the carwash was held August 18 and 19.

The carwash does not use any P&G cleaning products, although earlier reports on Professional Carwahing & Detailing Online said the wash features Sonny’s conveyor equipment and ICS auto cashiers.

The 9,000-square-foot test site will be operated for about a year before the company decides whether a national carwash chain is commercially viable.

P&G plans to open a second test site, also in a Cincinnatti, OH suburb, some time in October, company spokesperson Glenn Williams told Professional Carwashing & Detailing Online earlier this year.

The company already manufactures one carwash product for at-home use, Mr. Clean Auto Dry, but it will not be used or sold at the carwash. The carwash will serve Folgers coffee, made by P&G.

Features of the carwash include a 60-foot wash tunnel and a viewing area inside, the article said. It offers a seven-minute exterior wash as well as a 30-minute hand wax and carpet shampoo, among other services.

Despite recurring rainstorms, the carwash managed to sign more than 400 customers to its Mr. Clean Club, a loyalty program, in its first month of operation.

Mark VII announces more changes
Mark VII Equipment Inc., the US subsidiary of WashTec AG of Germany, has signed a new distributor and acquired another.

SourceONE, a company specializing in full-service carwashes, will serve as a Mark VII distributor in the state of Arkansas. SourceONE develops, constructs, consults, manages, markets, distributes, sells and services carwash equipment and supplies.

The company’s President and CEO, Ronnie L. Corbin, was a former partner and VP of Marketing and Development for ACS, Inc., the company behind several Rapido Rabbit locations in 2005 and now the Boomerang Carwash chain.

At ACS, Corbin was responsible for attracting investors and developing of 22 express tunnel locations during a 30-month period.

Mark VII also acquired Aqua-Pro Car Wash Systems, the distributor of Mark VII products in the state of Texas.

The new subsidiary will continue to operate under the Aqua-Pro name and will be managed by Mark VII veteran Sandy Bass, who will relocate to Dallas to assume the role of vice president and general manager.

Aqua-Pro’s former owner Johnna Boyd will remain with the organization to work on special projects for Mark VII.

Last month, MarkVII appointed a new director in charge of c-store chain and “big box” accounts, as well as a new distributor and three new members to its sales teams.

ICA offers new investor seminars
