Tides of Carwashing

As a threatening storm cloud formed over the American economy, carwash operators and vendors began debating the value of professional associations, as well as trade shows and expos. Professional Carwashing & Detailing has always believed these groups and events to be among the more important investments a carwash operator can make in his business, especially during slow economic times. But the concerns continued to be raised, in e-mails and phone calls and online forums, and PC&D decided it was time to survey the industry.

Over 200 replies later, the results proved associations are still very relevant, necessary and important to the carwash industry. Not only that — but operators want at least as many shows, if not more, than there currently are in a calendar year. Vendors are another story. Our survey showed manufacturers and suppliers to the industry are increasingly concerned with the growing costs of regional and national events and the value received in return. Open comments made to the magazine suggested associations work more closely with vendors to make shows/expos more affordable and feasible, especially for smaller companies.
