NEWTOWN, AUSTRALIA — A carwash, once made infamous for getting in trouble with Nickelodeon for using a mascot that resembled SpongeBob Square Pants, is now being taken to court for apparently ignoring a Land and Environment Court ruling, a Central story reported.
The Nov. 9 story said the Sydney Car Wash is also in trouble for continuing operate despite being ordered to close.
Owner Daniel Bek is facing contempt of court proceedings after it was ruled that his carwash was not approved by the Council.
Bek said he did not know he needed a development application approval when he opened in 2007.
Many neighbors have also made noise complaints about his business.
As for the SpongeBob debate, the mascot has since been replaced by a dancing monkey.
