Well, here we are … it’s finally finished. The creation of the new carwash.com was a large and sometimes daunting experiment. Its formation took a concerted effort by a number of people working across multiple departments — oftentimes even in different states. And now, after all the hard work, we’re definitely proud to debut the new site.
One of the things I’m most excited about is how simple it is for readers to contact the editorial team with industry information and breaking news items. The new site provides areas for our readers to submit story tips, event information and editorial questions. The “SUBMIT TO EDIT” links at the bottom of our homepage let readers know how to easily send news tips and story ideas, letters to the editor and product press releases.
While we frequently gather information and articles from many different sources to provide the most up-to-date news in carwashing and detailing, my personal favorites have always been the exclusive stories that started with a quick email or phone call from a reader. The best example I can think of is a story we published about the union carwashes in California. Based on a reader tip that one of the “union” carwashes had never reopened, I was able to track down a source and figure out exactly how many washes that signed the agreement were, in fact, operating as “union” businesses.
So, if you will, take my first blog for the new carwash.com as an open invitation. I hope you’ll all feel free to let those emails and phone calls fly.
