YANKTON, SD — The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently collaborated with the Eco Auto-Wash carwash here to help it in preserving energy resources.

A May 25 blog post on the USDA website stated that the carwash has installed eco-friendly equipment under a design plan by N-K Properties Inc.

The carwash installed a wind turbine and its signage uses LED lighting to save energy. The carwash also installed geothermal heating and cooling equipment.

John Keyes, owner of N-K Properties Inc., said in the blog post, “I believe the wind turbine covers the cost of operation for our signage and electric pumping for our water recycling. To date, we have saved enough money to pay a cleaning person’s wages to maintain the facility on a daily basis.”
