Gary Hirsh, president of New Wave Industries, said different water reclaim systems use several methods of odor control including:
- Enzymes; and
- Ozone injection.
“The most effective and efficient method is ozone injection. By injecting ozone into the water, it disinfects and kills odor-causing bacteria by oxidation of specific cell wall components,” Hirsh said.
In essence, ozone eliminates color in wash water by oxidation and eliminates anaerobic bacteria growth that is typically associated with reclaiming water. Hirsh stated that ozone is a reactive gas that can oxidize bacteria, molds and organic material as well as the color that can result from the dyes found in carwash soaps and waxes.
