DECATUR, IL — A multi-profit business installed a mammoth tank so it could haul in water and continue the operation of its carwash during last summer’s drought, the Charlotte Observer reported.
The Nov. 15 story stated that the business was hauling in $2,000 worth of water a week to stay open during the restrictions. Efforts made to talk to the city about easing the restrictions were fruitless.

Co-owner Jay Billingsley pointed out that the carwash consumed a fraction of what many big companies use. “I understand (carwashes are) not a necessity to live,” Billingsley said in the story, “but at the same point, the same time, there are people that depend on this industry.”
The city finally eased water restrictions on carwashes in late October after the area had some rainfall.
