HACKENSACK, NJ — Does anyone remenmber this story from July 2012 in which a customer apparently hit the wrong pedal when leaving a carwash here, and ended up in the Hackensack River? Carwash employee John Goez and customer Jay Orsino quickly jumped into the river to rescue the elderly woman.
“I thought about my own mother,” Goez said back in July. “I kept telling her, ‘Don’t worry, we’re going to get you out of here.’ We couldn’t open the door because of the water pressure. Thank God the window was half open. We got her through the window.” The driver had minor injuries that were treated at a nearby hospital.
A video of the accident and the rescue can be found here.
