NAPERVILLE, IL — Even though city staff and commissioners had concerns, the planning and zoning commission here voted 4-2 to allow a carwash to sell used cars on its property, NapervillePatch reported.
The March 7 story stated that operator Bill Loumbardis can now sell used luxury cars out of his Finish Line Hand Car Wash and Detail Center under certain conditions.
Commissioners were worried about a traffic increase, but Loumbardis’ plan was supported by testimony from a nearby home owners association and the carwash site’s previous owner.
Loumbardis expects the used car sales business to operate mainly online. “I don’t know why they’re giving me a hard time,” he said in the story. “If we have more than three customers a day, I’d be surprised. It’s way underutilized as it is ... it makes sense.”
Some conditions placed on the business include keeping the car inventory at the back of the property and no repair or body work on-site.
