The New York State Car Wash Association (NYSCWA) toured three carwashes on September 19 in the Finger Lakes region. Participants also enjoyed a buffet dinner at the Sherwood Inn overlooking beautiful Skaneateles Lake, according to President Walt Hartl.
The tour started out at K & S Car Wash which features a 90-foot tunnel, four self-service bays and two in-bay automatics. The 35-year-old site is owned by Mark and Terri Kubarek.
Next on the tour was Auto Wash Inc. in Geneva, NY. The wash features a glass structure that is self-cleaning, and two in-bay automatics. Owned by the Marchenese family, they said they plan on adding a mini-tunnel to the site.
The third and final stop was to the five-year-old Border City Car Wash, which is also in Geneva. Owned by the Fratto family, the carwash features three self-service bays and a friction and frictionless in-bay automatic.

Send well wishes to Bud Abraham
We here at PC&D were saddened to hear that our Detail Editor Bud Abraham, president of Detail Plus Car Appearance Systems, of Portland, OR, and a nearly 40-year member of the car care industry, suffered a heart attack on September 4. He was rushed to Portland Adventist Hospital and was stabilized.
Bud is doing better since then and was discharged on September 20. He is already back to work, posting messages online and asking to write another article for PC&D. A website has been set up that tracks Bud's progress and also allows for people to send their well wishes. That website can be found at www.caringbridge.org/visit/budabraham.
