According to the Community Impact Newspaper the property is zoned for agriculture and single-family residential use.
“The applicant’s stated intention is to develop a self-service, automated drive-thru car wash at that location,” Georgetown Planning Director Andrew Spurgin said in the story. “Staff is supportive of the C-1 zoning at this location … But we do share some concerns of the appropriateness of a car wash facility. ... This is a major intersection on our westerly approach to the city.”
The concern was that if rezones the city would not be able to limit what was built on the property so long as it met the zoning requirements.
