WASHINGTON — The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is looking for nominees for its Environmental Quality Awards program, a press release reported.
Each April, the EPA awards people and businesses who have helped to improve the environment in New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and eight federally recognized Indian Nations.
The press release stated that the winners will be awarded during Earth Week and nominations are being accepted up until February 18, 2014.
"What better way to mark the annual celebration of Earth Day than by honoring those organizations, businesses and individuals whose work in communities has improved public health and preserved and restored the environment,” EPA Regional Administrator Judith A. Enck stated in the press release. “The outstanding efforts of EPA Environmental Quality Award recipients are fostering an environmental ethic in corporate board rooms, city halls and neighborhoods across the country.”
