How to start a carwash: Pay close attention to your design

When it comes to running a business, it's import to look at your theme and design. The Corner Store of Cypress, TX, did so and was given the Best Interior Design award by The Convenience Store News.

The Corner Store, a multi-profit chain which includes a c-stores, gas stations, carwashes, and air and water vending, has a design that is, “exciting, innovative and shopper friendly," according to The Convenience Store News.

“We want our Corner Store customers to have the kind of experience that keeps them coming back again and again," Kim Bowers, president and CEO of CST Brands, Corner Store’s parent company, said in the story. "Our stores are designed to be customer-friendly with an open floor plan and a strong window storefront presentation to let in as much natural light as possible.”   

Tony Bartys, senior vice president and COO of CST Brands, said they pride themselves on making customers feel like a guest in their homes.

How to start a carwash Tip #2: Choose bold colors

The Corner Store uses red, blue and yellow colors for its design. It also pays close attention to its cleanliness. According to the story, the 5,500 square foot c-store has a modern look, open truss system, and lots of windows for natural lighting.

How to start a carwash Tip #3: Create a walkable environment

The Corner Store tells customers they can be in and out of the c-store in three minutes or less, according to the story. "Customers walk through the doors and immediately see the lay of the land. All areas of the sales floor are clearly marked with signage and can be seen from virtually anywhere in the store," the story stated.
