Grenade found at carwash leads to removal by bomb squad

BROOKFIELD, Ill. — A maintenance worker at Spirit of America Car Wash, found what he described as a grenade or a large firework on Friday, according to    

Police said the grenade had “several components missing,” according to the article. “If struck correctly, it could go off,” said Brookfield police Lt. Ed Petrak.

Bomb squad technicians said the grenade appeared to be “semi-homemade” and filled with an unknown substance, it was stated in the article.

The bomb squad took the grenade away for disposal.
