Carwash supports California Gov. recommendation for reduced water use

MODESTO, Calif. — On Friday, Gov. Jerry Brown made recommendations to reduce water use in drought-stricken California, according to a press release.

The suggestions included asking Californians not to use at-home washing, where water is wasted, and “potentially toxic residue ends up in the public wastewater system,” noted the release.

Evan Porges, president of Prime Shine Car Wash, based in Modesto, Calif, said, “The efficiency between a professional carwash facility like ours and washing at home is huge. We use 30 gallons of fresh water to wash your car; washing at home can be as much as 100 gallons. Additionally, we filter and recycle almost all the fresh water we use.”

California is suffering from a third straight year of below-average rainfall, according to the release.
