ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill. — Clay bars are becoming less popular, especially with “enthusiasts and weekend warriors,” and their future in the detailing industry has been questioned, according to a Detailed Image blog.
There are products now on the market that are making decontamination easier. The blog goes into detail about many of the new products that are assisting detailers.

However, clay bars are not going away, according to the blog. “Reason being, many times [detailers] encounter contamination that is either too much for the newer methods to handle or simply takes too long compared to using a clay bar.” Clay bars are also useful for paint transfers, the blog notes.
The blog concludes by noting clay bars are still a requisite tool in the detailing industry, but that new tools have also been great additions.
