CHICAGO — The end of last year was not favorable for consumer confidence, but 2014 is showing stronger signs, according to CSPnet.com.
The latest IRI MarketPulse survey showed that “all age groups are reporting a sunnier outlook, especially millennials,” stated the article.
Consumers are not only feeling more confident, but also less like they need to sacrifice to make ends meet, said Susan Viamari, editor for thought leadership at IRI. However, she continued that consumers are still conservative about spending, so businesses need to work hard for their money.

The Internet is continuing to play an increase role in how consumers shop, according to the report.
- 29 percent of consumers are downloading coupons from a retailers’ website
- 25 percent research products on websites
- 19 percent visit sites like Groupon
- 11 percent use social media sites for coupons
