DANVILLE, Ky. — Professional carwashing is the environmentally friendly way to wash your vehicle, as one eco-columnist recently discovered, according to Central Kentucky News.
“What I found out really surprised me,” wrote Amanda Wheeler in her column. “In order to limit how much water you use and other environmental impacts from washing your car, the best option isn’t to wash it at home, it’s to take it to a commercial carwash.”
Professional carwashes, she goes onto write, maximize water efficiency to not hurt their bottom line.

She also explains, that with at-home washing, “anything harmful to the environment that’s in your soap or on your vehicle is likely going straight into your ground or into a storm drain and then into a creek.”
It’s amazing, she writes, that something that seems like a small task like a carwash, can have a major impact on the environment. She recommends, if you need a carwash, to take it to a professional. “That way you know that a minimum amount of water is being used and that no contaminated water is polluting natural waterways. If they could, your local wildlife would thank you.”
