Alarm helps police catch detail shop burglar

REDDING, CA — Police here caught a 20-year-old in the act of burglarizing a detail shop, The Record Searchlight reported.

The Feb. 6 story stated that police responded to a commercial burglary alarm early Monday morning. When they arrived, they found the suspect walking out the front door of the shop with property from inside the business.

The man ran to the back of the building to try and escape, but officers caught him and arrested him, the story noted. Sonny William Montgomery later admitted to burglarizing the business.

Montgomery was booked on suspicion of burglary, receiving stolen property, possessing burglary tools and obstructing police. His bail was set at $35,000, according to the story.
