Legendary car salesman Joe Girard went into the Guinness Book of World Records for selling the most automobiles over the span of 10 years. His secret for doing this was very simple. He sent out greeting cards to prospects and clients. They got a card from him almost every month. When the people on Joe’s card list were ready to buy a car, who do you think they called?
One of the most important marketing tools you can add to your detailing business is an automated system that allows you to constantly stay in touch with your clients. People love to be contacted from time to time. People appreciate being told “thank you” after they’ve done business with you; people love to have their birthday remembered by others.
But here’s the problem -- it’s hard to keep up with sending out “Thank You” cards, birthday cards and holiday promotion cards to your customer list, when you already have so many responsibilities in your business. The first option might be to hire an assistant, but this can be expensive, plus it’s hard to add that personal touch when you have someone else doing this work. Instead I use a program that allows me to automate the whole process of sending out postcards and greeting cards to my clients.
This program allows me pick from an assortment of 8,000 cards, or create and customize my own postcards and greeting cards. Not only that, it provides me with a contact manager that keeps all of my clients and prospects in a database. The customer database is easy to use and if you use programs like Microsoft Outlook, the contacts can be easily imported into this program.
The best feature of this program to me is the campaign feature. You can setup automated campaigns to go out to prospects or clients. For example, if I want to send a current client a birthday card every year, I can setup it up where that client automatically gets a card from me every year for the next 5 years. The card goes out to them every year without me having to remember it. I can also do this with holiday cards. Say I want to send out certain season cards like 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving or Christmas. I can go into the campaign feature and set it up so that all of my clients automatically get a card from me on those particular holidays I have setup.
