ALLIANCE, OH — Customers at Roy’s Wash and Lube here may notice someone is missing during their next wash, according to the-review.com.
The Aug. 2 story stated that “Jake the carwash dog” passed away in June, three days after his 14th birthday. His ashes, food bowl, collar, a plaster paw print and several photos are now on display in the carwash lobby.
Jake enjoyed swimming, chasing lasers and running up and down the shop’s long hallway, Owner Roy Clunk said in the story. Jake was also certified as a Rainbow Therapy Dog and enjoyed visiting senior citizens at a nearby medical center.
Last month, the business’ sign read “Jake the Carwash Dog 1997 to 2011 You Will Be Missed,” and Clunk said in the story that the family received six sympathy cards after Jake’s death.
Clunk remembered that Jake had started coming to the business 14 years ago when he was a puppy. “When the kids were little they were all in school and they would say, ‘What are you going to do with Jake during the day? He can’t stay home by himself,’ and I said, ‘I’ll take him to work with me,’” Clunk said in the story.
