Carwash explosion reported in PA

LANCASTER, PA — An explosion at a carwash here last Friday morning caused $1.5 million in damages, a LancasterOnline story said.

The July 1 story said the blast, which was heard and felt by people up to two miles away, occurred around 3:30 a.m. and caused debris to fly across the street. The road ended up being closed for several hours that day.

Police are still investigating the explosion but said an accidental gas leak at a propane gas tank was partially responsible.

Nearby homes were also damaged as a result. A seismograph at the nearby Millersville University recorded tremors from the explosion.
