The recent outbreak of swine influenza raises an important question: Do you have an infection control measure in place at your detail shop?

If you do not have a proper protocol in place for protecting employees against exposure to bodily fluids such as vomit and fecal matter now is the time to create a safety program. OSHA requires that you do, and the following are links that explain personal protective equipment (PPE) and how it can be used in the work place, as well as a guide to protecting employees from avian flu.

The recent swine flu outbreak is alarming, and you might be endangering the health of your employees as well as your business if you don’t take action today. Your detail shop could be closed for days if all your staff were to become ill, not to mention the risk to customers and your business’s reputation.

Remember that cleaning any body fluid should not be considered a part of a detail service, but rather a bio-hazard cleaning and you should charge appropriately including the cost of PPE equipment and time for pulling down machines for cleaning.
