Former owner of Dilling-Harris passes away

LADY LAKE, FL — Harry H. Dilling Jr., 70, passed away on Sunday, May 1, according to Jim Gosnell with Etowah Valley Equipment Inc. Dilling was a former owner of carwash equipment supplier Dilling-Harris.

Speaking exclusively to PC&D, Gosnell said Dilling was a “true champion” of the self-serve carwash segment. “Harry was always quick to offer advice to operators and manufacturers alike,” Gosnell remembered.

“Harry always made sure the equipment he made exceeded customer expectations,” Gosnell said. “I met Harry several years ago at a trade show. I was very fortunate in that Harry became a true friend as well as a trusted mentor.”

Gosnell continued, “Etowah Valley Equipment would not be the company it is today were it not for the guidance and experience that Harry provided to me personally.”

According to Dilling’s obituary, published in The Villages Daily Sun, Dilling is survived by his wife, Donna; sons James, Keith; father, Harry Howard Dilling; mother, Ina Faye Dilling; and one grandchild.

Harry Dilling was one of the true icons of the car wash industry. There are so many of us that admired and respected him. He was always a "class act" and a fun person to be around. Harry will be missed.
