Ted Kennedy and Karen Johnson, a father-daughter team, will open their newest carwash, a 130-foot express exterior tunnel with free vacuums, on September 1.

Doug and Laura Warner are taking full-service to the next level with their new carwash, Twin Image Spa Salon, which joins the couple’s other business venture, an upscale beauty salon.
The pair bought an old car rental facility nearby the upscale beauty salon they've owned for over 30 years to convert it into TI Auto Spa. When clients come in for lengthy salon services, they can pamper their cars at the same time.
The auto spa also is open to people who aren’t clients of Twin Image and are just looking for a car detailing business, Doug Warner said. Services range from simple vacuuming, window-washing and dash-cleaning to waxing, stain removal and vent cleaning.
According to Warner, part of his business philosophy is to keep things new and fresh for his customers. Along with the auto spa, he said the shampoo and cutting areas of the salon are getting a new look.
After over $1.5 million worth of renovations, Express Auto Spa has opened its tunnel. Hans Melges and his brother Harry opened the carwash in May. It was formerly the Suburban Northwest Carwash.
The brothers said their philosophy is to give customers the best carwash available — at a good price — and they’ll never want to go anywhere else.
A local construction company is hard at work on a full-service carwash which will replace a Union 76 gas station previously at the site. When completed, the new full-service carwash will have a deli, gas pumps, an auto detailing service, a convenience store and a coffee shop all on site.
“The idea is that you can come in during your lunch time, have your car washed, have lunch in the deli and pick up snacks for later,” said Saidi Farhat, who works with the construction company.
The convenience store will be open from 5 a.m. until midnight, and the carwash will be open from 7 a.m. until the sun goes down.
The construction is expected to wrap up by the middle of this month.
A Shammy Shine Car Wash, based here, has been remodeled and now includes computer-controlled equipment by Innovative Control Systems (ICS) which will help to conserve electricity, water and cleaning solutions.
Shammy Shine was recently included in Professional Carwashing and Detailing’s list of the 50 largest conveyor carwash operators in the nation.
Carwash customers will now use an auto cashier machine, which offers help in English and Spanish, similar to an ATM machine.
Shammy Shine said it also plans on converting its washes in Lehigh Valley, PA.
The Y Express Lube has gotten a $1.8 million upgrade and expansion and now includes a carwash and pet wash. The carwash features an automatic Powerain wash system and a large self-serve bay as well.
The commercial center, which opened last month, also offers transmission and power steering servicing, oil and filter changes, fuel injection treatments, and is a dealer for Interstate batteries.
The center’s new manager, Robert Perreault, said the facility will save water and about 50 percent of the water used will
