A few years ago, when I first took over the editorial department at Professional Carwashing & Detailing, the cry from new investors reached a fever pitch. It seemed like more and more doctors and lawyers and businessmen and other professionals were being drawn to the carwash industry; and without any programs in place to acquaint them with the business, they sought out the one resource they recognized as an information leader: Professional Carwashing & Detailing.
I am glad that our magazine had the opportunity to help educate and steer these investors through their time of need, but I regret that it took us so long to realize that this group needed a publication of their own; a resource specifically tailored to their unique needs and issues. We were so busy tracking hot topics like rising gas prices and the big box invasion that we nearly missed this golden opportunity to help the newcomers to our industry.
PC&D's New Investor Guide was introduced at this year's Car Care World Expo in Orlando, FL, to an overwhelmingly positive response. Although I was confident the print issue had served its purpose, I thought there had to be a better medium for this publication. Here we had a group of investors who already had busy, scheduled-to-the-max lives; the need for information was almost as great as the need for convenience and speed.
That leads us to PC&D's New Investor e-Guide, a newsletter-styled bulletin delivered to over 1,000 potential investors to this industry every three months. The e-Guide is easy to use and access, and also convenient to peruse through on your lunch break or at the end of a business day.
Because I want this resource to meet and also anticipate your needs, I welcome your thoughts and comments at email@example.com. In the initial issues, our topics will focus on the beginning investment process; from financing to site selection and writing a business plan. As the newsletter matures, so too will its content. We will address grand opening ideas and marketing tricks as you further along your own plans for a carwash. Eventually, the idea is to have our readers "graduate" to Professional Carwashing & Detailing, the ultimate resource for carwash owners and operators.
In the meantime, please use www.carwash.com to your fullest advantage. You will notice an "Ask the Expert" feature on our home page. This is here to allow you access to some of the industry's most prominent and celebrated leaders. The keyword search will also help you to further research on topics you may find specific to your goals.
Don't be afraid to introduce yourself on our bulletin board. You will find a group of very motivated and successful operators here who are joined by a common interest in carwashing and problem solving.
Lastly, a short congratulations on taking the first step in becoming a carwash owner. I look forward to your progress and am happy that Professional Carwashing & Detailing can be your partner in this exciting project!
