MASON CITY, IA — For 40 years now Jon McCorkle, 56, has been managing the Wooz Car Wash and gas station here, and even after all of these years, he’s still whistling while he works, according to the Global Gazette.

The Feb. 19 story said owner Henry Pirhonen, who has been working with McCorkle since 1972, praises McCorkle’s strong work ethic. “We’ve gone through some rough times businesswise over the years and Jon is always positive…This is a happy place — no frowns. The customers like that, and Jon is a big part of it,” he said in the story.

McCorkle said he enjoys his job and thinks his whistling habit came from his father. “My father was a whistler and I guess I just came by it naturally,” he said in the story. “It makes me happy and I hope it makes other people happy.”
