The Southeastern Carwash Association's (SECWA) Spring Educational Conference in Panama City Beach, FL, featured the association's annual awards ceremony.
SECWA presented the Top 5 Car Wash awards to the best carwashes in the Southeastern United States. The businesses were judged on such criteria as appearance, design, operations, and also customer safety.
Autobell Car Wash Inc., a wash chain with 43 carwashes in 22 North Carolina and four Virginia cities, announced that it recently awarded 31 employees its 2005 Academic Scholarships toward the college or university of their choice.
The Autobell Scholarship is an annual program open to current Autobell employees of at least one year who are graduating high school seniors, or have received a high school diploma within the past three years.
The 2005 Autobell Scholarship gifts total $16,250.

Royal Sheen, a manufacturer of car-care products, has announced the promotion of James Laughlin to the position of south eastern regional sales manager.
Laughlin has been an employee of Royal Sheen for the last three years, and has served as a field sales representative in the state of Florida. He came to Royal Sheen from ZEP Manufacturing where he was employed as a sales rep and a field sales manager.
Carwash system manufacturer Mark VII Equipment LLC has promoted Robert Ulrich to vice president of production and Heather Barker to aftermarket sales and marketing manager.
Ulrich brings with him 20 years of successful management experience in engineering, manufacturing and production. Since joining the company in 1992 he has served in a number of positions and currently heads all phases of production.
Barker, who manages order entry, customer service, and ancillary products/parts sales, first joined Mark VII in 2003 from Arrow Electronics.

At the Automotive Oil Change Association's (AOCA) annual business meeting held in New Orleans, the members of the AOCA elected L. Ward Huntley to a three-year term on its Board of Directors.
Huntley, an AOCA member since 1994, is the president of South Lubes, Inc., Orange Park, FL, which operates 60 Jiffy Lube locations in Florida and both North and South Carolina.
AOCA's Associate Members elected Kirk Gustie, a 22-year fast lube veteran of Service Champ to serve as their representative to AOCA's board.
Sue Ackley of Xpress Lube, St. Louis, was elected to a second term as president of the association. Dave Jensen was re-elected vice president and Steve Allison, who runs six Shell Rapid Lubes in Myrtle Beach, SC, was elected secretary/treasurer.
