Jeff Sturges, formerly of Ecolab and Belanger, Inc., is now the director of North American sales for Mark VII Equipment Inc.’s tunnel line.

Sturges holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Marketing and an MBA in Global Management from the University of Phoenix. He also served in the United States Marines.

John Sanfacon has been named to Jiffy Lube International’s executive leadership team, where he will serve as the marketing and innovations manager.

Sanfacon previously served as the vice president of marketing for Denny’s Inc.

Mark VII Equipment Inc. has purchased the Michigan assets of PDQ distributor Washing Equipment Technologies.

Mark VII will service former Washing Equipment Technologies customers via its existing direct service operation in Michigan, which has added several PDQ-trained technicians to its staff.

Effective immediately, customers needing service can call Mark VII Michigan toll-free at 877-665-7414.

PDQ Manufacturing, Inc., has appointed Woltco Incorporated, as the only distributor serving the lower peninsula of Michigan.

Woltco has been a carwash supplier for 15 years. The company can be reached at (877) 992-7427., a company formed to educate carwash operators on how to substantially increase profits even in suffering economies, is now accepting enrollment for its first class starting in March.

Enrollment includes:

  • Access to the company’s first lessons;
  • A private member forum which is moderated by one or more of the expert panelists;
  • Critique certificates;
  • Personal consultations; and
  • Bonus lessons.

Ecowash mobile, a waterless carwash franchise with locations around the world, has placed third in the BRW Fast Franchises list for 2009. BRW is an Australian business magazine.

The list ranks 100 different franchise models in Australia through an independently audited services. Results are based on growth in outlets and gross revenue. This is the first year ecowash, a five-year old company, has met the magazine’s criteria for the contest.

In 2008, ecowash had 105 outlets and a $7.88 million turnover in a 12-month period. The gross revenue showed a nearly 103% increase over three years. Outlets increased 135 percent in the same time period.

Association news

The International Detailing Association (IDA) will be hosting four educational sessions at the Car Care World Expo being held in Las Vegas this month.

The sessions will take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center on April 2 and 3. The Expo will run between April 1-4.

The Midwest Carwash Association recently informed vendors it had selected a date and location for MCA Expo 2009.

MCA said it selected Schaumburg, IL, again and a November date — the 10th through the 12th.

MCA Expo 2008 was also held in Schaumburg, at the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel. The Association did not release any further details involving the 2009 show.
