The International Carwash Association’s (ICA) Car Love promotion and contest is calling for entries from the public to win a complete car-care package.

The association’s Car Love Sweepstakes promotes the use of a professional carwash and offers the chance to win 28 carwashes at a nearby ICA member location, as well as the choice of the following, not to exceed $10,000: automobile purchase or lease payments; automobile insurance payments; automobile maintenance at locations designated by the ICA; gas purchases; or automobile stereo equipment

WashUSA announced that The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of America will be using proceeds from the Sept. 24 fund-raiser to help re-establish local chapters in New Orleans and Mississippi.

Additionally, the national organization will be assisting in maintaining service to children and their families from these affected areas.

The Buffalo, NY-based carwash chain Delta Sonic is planning on establishing a new carwash facility in central New York on a three acre site of a former car dealership.

Delta Sonic will demolish the existing Roger Burdick Kia dealership and Quick Fill gas station this fall and construction of the new building will begin in the spring.

Seven-Eleven Japan said it will launch a $1.2 billion cash tender offer for the 27.3 percent stake it doesn’t already own in its US affiliate 7-Eleven, in a move that would take the world’s largest convenience store chain private.

Seven-Eleven Japan, Japan’s largest convenience store operator with more than 10,000 locations, is 51 percent owned by Japanese retailer Ito-Yokado.

Unitec Electronic, has announced that Brian White recently joined the company as the national sales manager for Unitec’s Distributor Network.

White will oversee the regional sales and field sales support team, and will be responsible for developing sales programs to support Unitec’s distributor and manufacturing customers.

NTP Media has named Mike Hilts, a 28-year veteran of special interest publications, to lead the Professional Car Care B2B Trade Group™ at NTP Media.

In his role as publisher of the group, Hilts will be responsible for overseeing the sales development efforts for several products serving the carwashing, detailing and oil-change industries. The business information products include Professional Carwashing & Detailing® magazine, Professional Car Care e-News™, and Professional Car Care Online™ (www.carwash.com).

Chris Starace has been named to the position of news editor of Professional Car Care e-News™ electronic newsletters, at NTP Media.

Starace’s duties will also include writing and editing news stories, features, departments, and other material for Professional Carwashing & Detailing® and Water Technology® magazines, in addition to the e-News.

Belanger, Inc., a carwash products manufacturer, has announced the appointment of two team members to its sales team.

Jim Siwik has been named as a tunnel sales specialist and Tom Herf has been named as a sales specialist for portions of Belanger’s Northwest territory.

Both men will be working closely with Belanger distributors, helping to identify and service new markets and customers, while promoting the sale and service of company equipment.

The Professional Detailing Technician’s Association (PDTA) announced the appointment of Jose Fernandez to its board of trustees.

Fernandez is the owner of Superior Shine, a detailing operation out of Covina, CA. He has been asked to join the interim board as a representative of mobile detailers in the USA, who now represent over 70 percent of the PDTA’s membership.

Fernandez has over 15 years experience running a mobile detailing company and is an ASE certified Master Auto Refinisher.
