Delta Sonic Car Wash, the automatic carwash chain of 27 washes in New York, Pennsylvania and Illinois, will be a presenting sponsor of the 2006 ThunderBolts Opening Series, a three-day independent Midwest league baseball event featuring giveaways and fireworks.

Delta Sonic was the sixth largest wash in Professional Carwashing & Detailing® magazine's Top 50 Conveyorized Carwash list.

The Car Wash People, Inc. (TCWP) announced the opening of its 20th location in South Florida.

The company, which opened in 2003, provides carwash and detailing centers for parking garages, also includes mobile service.

While the company is franchise-capable, there have been no decisions made about which direction the company will expand in the future.

Ashland's Valvoline division has opened a second Valvoline Instant Oil Change store in Shanghai, China.

The new store includes two automobile service bays and one bay for car detailing.

Valvoline Instant Oil Change in China operates as Valvoline Automotive Service Shanghai Co. Ltd., a joint venture with Shanghai Shibei Industrial New Zone Investment & Management Co. Ltd.

Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. announced that it has signed an agreement to purchase 40 convenience stores and take on an additional 13 Shell Oil fuel supply contracts in Indianapolis.

Kleen-Rite Corp, a major supplier to the carwash industry, announced the opening of their new Western distribution center, located in Las Vegas.

The new facility was unveiled during the International Carwash Association's Annual Expo.

Mike Coble has joined Howco Inc., as a sales associate with the company's carwash chemical sales team.

In addition to the chemical lines, he will represent the Jim Coleman Company and Hanna Car Wash System equipment lines.

A Fairbank, AK newspaper recently profiled Sam Makkar, who manages eight employees at the Fairbanks Splash & Dash Car Wash, works six days a week to feed his eleven children, and has traveled countless miles to get there.

Jiffy Lube® honored several outstanding franchisees at the 27th Annual Jiffy Lube International Convention & Trade Show in San Antonio.

Those awarded included Bill Shockley of Shockley Management, Inc. and John and Maude Kenyon of Ventura Lube, Inc., who were named the Eastern and Western Division Jiffy Lube® Franchisees of the Year, respectively.

Scott Washnak, manager of the Hoosier Automotive Services, LLC service center located in Carmel, Ind., received the President’s Store Manager Recognition Award for outstanding achievement in training, operations, customer service, and day-to-day business.

Bob Falter of franchisee Multi-Management Group, headquartered in Bel Air, Md., and Kerry Scovill of franchisee USP Group, based in Sandy, Utah, were both awarded the Harold Burney Memorial Award in recognition of their dedication to Jiffy Lube International, as well as their fellow franchisees.

The Arlene Karlson Heart and Soul Award for exemplary community service went to Steve and Cathy Funkhouser of franchisee Fig Bar, Inc. in Richmond, Ind.

Allan Engelmeyer, president of the Jiffy Lube Association of Franchisees (JLAF), presented Jiffy Lube International District Manager of the Year Awards to Eastern Division winner Robert Cowan and Western Division winner Steve Gnerich.

Jiffy Lube’s network includes more than 2,200 service centers in North America.
