Doug Marquis has been promoted to vice president of sales and marketing for Lustra Professional Car Care Products, a division of Cleaning Systems, Inc. (CSI).
Marquis joined CSI in 1995 as regional sales manager and has been handling sales management, business development and strategic direction responsibilities throughout the Eastern U.S.
Cleaning Systems, Inc. also announced it hired James Wurm as corporate director of marketing. Wurm is responsible for strategic planning, branding and national/ international marketing of the Lustra Car Care Products and DynaEdge commercial transportation divisions.
Prior to joining CSI, Wurm worked in business and consumer marketing and sales for companies including Airadigm Communications, Ameritech and Ford Motor Company.
Founded in 1976, Cleaning Systems, Inc. is a manufacturer of cleaning and protection products for the car care industry. CSI’s line of Lustra Professional Car Care Products is environmentally friendly and designed to deliver a superior carwash experience.
Andi McJunkin has joined Autobell Car Wash Inc., headquartered here, as the company’s Community Relations Representative/Recruiter.
McJunkin’s primary responsibilities are to develop and execute strategies to recruit entry-level employees who may be interested in long-term employment or a career with Autobell.
Autobell, with 49 locations, is the third-largest conveyor carwash chain in the nation. The family-owned chain employs approximately 1,600 workers and will open its 50th carwash in late spring.
Louis Ball, who received the Reggie Award for achievement in promotion development, execution and results during his tenure at Armor All, has been appointed vice president of sales at Green Earth Technologies, a manufacturer and marketer of waterless carwash products.
Ball, who once served on the board of directors for the International Carwash Association, helped pioneer the Armor All product line from inception as a new category and grew it to upwards of $300 million in sales. He was also the recipient of the Lifetime achievement award at Armor All.
Green Earth Technologies produces several waterless carwash products that use nanotechnology, including G-OIL™, G-WASH™, G-GLASS™, G-SCENT™, G-WHEEL™ and G-TIRE.

Solidus Networks Inc., dba Pay By Touch, has shut down all of it biometric payment services. The biometric payment services allowed customers to pay for items, such as gasoline and c-store purchases, with a touch of their finger.
The company provided the payment services to hundreds of stores throughout the United States. It filed for bankruptcy in January and decided to close the services due to a lack of funding and current market conditions.
Washworld, Inc., based in DePere, WI, has named Professional Carwash Systems to its distributor network.
The March 21 press release said Professional Carwash Systems has been in the carwash business for 17 years and will serve customers in the state of Iowa.
Washworld, Inc. is a manufacturer of touch-free carwash systems.
Autobell Car Wash Inc., headquartered in Charlotte, NC, recently received the “Above and Beyond” Award from the North Carolina Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).
Autobell was among 62 North Carolina employers recognized for exceptional support of employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve. The family-owned chain is the third largest conveyor operator in the nation.

Car Park Valeting (CPV) Ltd, a mobile hand wash franchise based in London, has acquired waterless carwash franchisor Aquanought Ltd, and expanded its national carwash business franchise.
CPV was established in 1995 and has been franchising since 1999. The company currently has 111 fixed, trolley wash and area territory locations in the UK.
The Automotive Oil Change Association (AOCA) elected its 2008 board of directors and officers during the AOCA’s 21st Annual Convention & Fast Lube Expo in Las Vegas, in March.
The membership re-elected L. Ward Huntley, president of South Lubes, Inc. in Orange Park, FL, to a second three-year term on the board. South Lubes, Inc. operates 64 Jiffy Lube centers in Florida and the Carolinas.
Other members continuing terms on AOCA’s board of directors are:
- Steve Allison, Xpress Lube in Myrtle Beach, SC;
- Kevin Davis, Fast Oil Change in Lovely, KY;
- Doug Kline, Ohio’s Ultra Lube in Tallmadge, OH;
- Glenn Morris, Auto Lube Care in Ventura, CA;
- Chris Tolsdorf, Tolsdorf Oil, West Chester, PA; and
- Dave Jensen, Pennzoil 10 Minute Oil Change in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Jensen is immediate past president and has served on the board since 2002.
- The AOCA board members also met to select officers for the year.
- Chris Tolsdorf, owner of four fast lubes in the suburban Philadelphia area was elected president of the association;
- Glenn Morris was elected vice president; and
- Steve Allison will continue as secretary/treasurer of the association.
The AOCA is a non-profit trade association representing the fast oil change industry founded in 1987.
The Steering Committee of detail industry suppliers for the formation of the International Detailing Association has announced that all legal requirements and registrations have been completed and the IDA is now seeking members from all segments of the detail industry — operators, manufacturers, distributors and consultants.
The Formation Steering Committee is made up of the following founding charter members: Allbrite Car Care Products; Car Brite; Cyclo Toolmakers, Inc.; DETAIL PLUS; Ding King; P & S Chemical Sales; Professional Dispensing Systems; RAGGTOPP; and U.S. Products, Inc.
The committee indicated that as soon as the IDA had 75 to 100 member requests for nominations, the Board of Directors will be made. The nominating committee will select a final slate of candidates and a vote taken among all members for the first Board of Directors of the International Detailing Association.
