2005 Lube Benchmarking Report

Professional Carwashing & Detailing’s® 2005 Lube Benchmarking Report demonstrates that lube owners are beginning to figure out how to increase fast lube volume, perhaps by the use of carwash discounts for those who have washing included on a property.

This year’s survey shows that the median percent change in fast lube volume increased significantly, and percentages also increased for respondents with other car-care services such as detailing and full-service carwashing.

In addition to this year’s industry-related factoids concerning the quick lube business, the survey suggests that respondents (89.7 percent of which run independent operations) are becoming increasingly web-savvy by running promotions and advertising techniques through company Internet pages.

Note: The 2005 Lube Benchmarking Report compiles data that falls within a 95 percent confidence interval, which essentially discards the top 2.5 percent and the bottom 2.5 percent of responses to eliminate the disproportionate influence of statistical outliers on the final data.
