Thief’s plans all wet after self-serve spray down
AUSTIN, TX — A 6-year-old boy foiled a robbery attempt at a carwash here by spraying the thief with water, The Statesman reported.
The May 13 story stated that Roy Lee Bolton, 37, was trying to rob the boy’s mother using a pellet gun at a self-serve carwash.
According to the arrest affidavit, Bolton put his arm around the mother’s neck and shoulders and reached for money she was holding. He was looking through the car’s window at a $20 bill when the boy sprayed him with the water.
After being sprayed, Bolton approached the boy and said, “You think you’re a gangsta?” Next, he grabbed the boy’s arm, and held him against the wall.
The mother dug her nails into Bolton’s hand to make him release the boy, and the mother and son were able to get into the car, lock the doors and call 911.
Bolton was arrested and charged with injury to a child, a third-degree felony.
