Pinstriper corrects paint details during car show
YORK, PA — A young pinstriper here is one of the painting professionals that can add fancy detailing work to classic show cars, the York Daily Record reported.
The June 3 story stated that Ben Dellinger came to the 39th Annual Street Rod Nationals East Plus just to admire car paint jobs. Instead he ended up correcting the paint on a 1949 Ford Coupe.
As Dellinger spoke with another car pinstriper, Lou “King Louie” Cinque rolled into a space nearby and said he had a couple of dings in his paint job. He asked if someone could help out.
Dellinger grabbed his brushes and dabbed on paint until the nick disappeared. “You’ve got to be prepared,” he said in the story. “Have brush, will travel. That’s my motto.”
At 24, Dellinger is a youngster in an industry where everyone else is over 60 years old. When veterans come across a “newbie” like Dellinger, they are always willing to share the tricks of the trade.
